Posted: Wednesday 19th August 2020
Frame | 1967 Mal Rees 'Ramales' (built by Bill Hurlow); frame no:161067 - 24" Seat tube, 10½" bottom bracket height, 41" wheelbase |
Wheels | Campagnolo Record large-flange hubs 36/36 with 27" Mavic HP rims |
Chainset | Campagnolo Record double, 151 BCD |
Pedals | Campagnolo Record with Campagnolo toe-clips |
Gears | Campagnolo Record front and rear derailleurs, bar-end controls |
Brakes | Universal 68 brakeset |
Stem/Bars | Universal 68 brakeset |
Saddle | Brooks Professional on Campagnolo seatpost |
Extra details | The frame, in common (I'm told), with many sixties frames has no braze-ons whatsoever, which is a good excuse to use lots of lovely Campa guides. The stays are extremely chunky. It does ride better than anything else I have, arrow straight, very stable and feels quick but not twitchy. That may be down to the rim and tyre combination (my latest pet theory is that the feel of a bike is determined more by the wheels than anything else). |
Thanks for reading
