Posted: Thursday 13th August 2020
Frame | F E Dunning 1955 - frame no. 161155 on frame and fork coloumn; lightweight club tourer; seat tube 23"; Nervex Lugs |
Wheels | Dunlop 26 x 1¼" chrome steel rims on Bayliss Wiley large-flange fron hub and Sturmey Archer 4-speed FM rear |
Chainset | Williams |
Pedals | Phillites (had Webb on right which has been replaced) |
Gears | Sturmey Archer FM (4-speed medium ratio) |
Brakes | GB Superhoods with earlier stirrups |
Stem/Bars | Presto steel stem with GB alloy Maes 'ferrule' bars |
Saddle | Brooks B17 Competition Standard on domed steel seatpin |
Extra Details | Phoenix Ivorette guards. Weight 12.4KG (27lbs). Appears to be original except for pedals, bar wrap (which is temporary until trigger position is determined) and Kenda gumwall tyres which I'm not keen on. Paint, decals and chrome ends are excellent, save the front forks where paint doesn't adhere well on the chrome underneath. Presto stem is in need of re-chrome. My information on Dunning is sparse... I know that the FE Dunning Ltd. company was dissolved in January 1968 and that the Willesden CC has a Dunning Cup. Dunning is mentioned in News & Views 304, but that's the sum of my knowledge to date. Hopefully this feature will elicit more info on a quality, lesser known London Lightweight maker. |
