Legnano Pista - 1960
Posted: Wednesday 19th August 2020
Frame | 1960 Legnano Pista; 60cm ctt seat tube, 56.5cm ctc top tube, 40cm chainstays, Wheelbase: 98cm |
Wheels | Rims are Fiamme Red Label on Campagnolo Pista hubs; 36H Stella spokes, tied and soldered; tires are Kenda Domestique tubulars. Modern, since I ride it on the track |
Chainset | Campagnolo Pista 48T with Campagnolo Pista bottom bracket |
Pedals | Campagnolo Pista |
Gears | Single-speed fixed 14T giving 92.6" gear |
Brakes | N/A |
Stem/Bars | Cinelli steel 100mm, with Cinelli steel Pista handlebar: Headset: I believe it is the original Way Assauto, which I have had re-chromed. It came out very nicely. With new ball bearings it is very smooth. |
Saddle | Selle Italia Flite that I re-covered. I learned a lot on that project! It is a great way to save a saddle |
Extra details | The bike rides very well and compares favorably with my 1965 Cinelli Pista. Brian Baylis did the paint, in his typical historically-faithful manner. He really knows the nuances of these bikes, and it shows in the details. For example, I learned exactly how the head badge was originally riveted on. I also did all the masking for the panels, which is tedious but rewarding work. Since the original down tube logotype was a stencil, Brian had a stencil made for the repaint. Just the kind of authentic touch that makes his work so great. |
