Claud Butler lightweight catalogue 1938

From David Twitchett

A very informative pre-war catalogue from Claud Butler.  We have not reproduced pages with the company's text about their policies as the catalogue originally had 32 pages.  We concentrated on the useful ones.  Click on the small images to give you a larger version which will be constrained in size by your computer screen.  A further click on this image should give an even larger copy that can be scrolled up and down and side to side for easier reading. This a very high-quality print for a pre-war catalogue and there is a lot of useful detail in the images as well as in the printed specifications.  The machines listed are interesting as they show the transition from the earlier 1930s 'slack' angled machines to the steeper angles that were to be fashionable in the post-war era.  Claud Butler was at the cutting edge of these design trends at the time, partly, no doubt, due to his involvement with international track riders such as Merkens as well as his UK riders, who competed against continental riders at meets both here in the UK and in Europe.
