Benotto Model 3000 - 1979

Owned by: Malcolm Summers

Benotto 1

I obtained this frame in February 2007 and is an all original Model 3000 as portrayed in the catalogue. It is a classic Italian masterpiece built from Columbus SL tubing by master craftsmen using investment cast lugs, bottom bracket and fork crown and built with low-temperature silver-bronze solder to maintain frame strength.  Diamond chainstays to maintain a rigid rear triangle. This model was used professionally on the Paris/Roubaix race by Francesco Moser, etc.  It is a rare and special frame as denoted by the unique serial number and the special finish.

The frame was originally finished in chrome with a gold laquer finish (see image below) and it was refurbished by Atlantic Boulevard in Bury.  As it would have been too expensive to replate and re-laquer they finished the frame as near as possible to the original with paint. The bike is now for sale, contact:  malcolm.summers@tiscali.co.uk  for details.
